Day of Remembrance

I don't have much to say today.  There are far too many emotions on this day.  I just want to send my thoughts and prayers out to those who lost someone on Sept. 11, 2001.  There are no words to convey how horrible that day was for our country, but I know it was so much worse for all of you.  For all of those who were simply doing their job that day and were lost in the line of duty your loss is felt each and everyday.  You were heroes and will be remembered always.

We as a people are responsible for making sure that these heroes are remembered.  September 11, 2001 forever changed our nation as a people.  On 9/10/01 we were all content to go about our lives like nothing mattered but our own little problems.  The events of 9/11/01 changed all that, we suddenly went from being individuals to being a nation united for a time in fear, anger and loss.  On 9/12/01, we were all more connected, the individual was no longer the most important thing.  It was almost as if we had gone back in time to a time where neighbors helped one another and a community rallied to help itself.  There were volunteers from all across the nation who dropped their daily lives and headed to New York to help with the recovery efforts.  In the past 10 years we have gone back in so many ways to the people we were before 9/11.  This saddens me so much more than you know.   We must remember who we were on 9/12 and go forward in our lives with that in mind.  We have from our founding been a nation of doer's not a bunch of do nothings.  It all starts with neighbors helping neighbors, giving a hand up and not a hand out.  If we all do this we will become once again the people we were on 9/12 and we will be a stronger nation.

My thoughts and prayers also go out to the families all of those who have served our great nation and payed the ultimate price.  Freedom is not free it comes at a price and we must not forget those who have fought and continue to fight to ensure that we are safe.  I also want to say thank you to the families of those same military men and women.  The sacrifices you make to support your loved ones is a hard one and should not go without note.  May God keep you all safe and bring your loved ones home soon.

While I would have preferred that we build the towers back bigger and stronger than before that is not going to be happening.  Instead we will have the 1776 foot Freedom Tower, or One World Trade as many are now calling it.  The building is currently under construction and has reached the 73 floor.  The photo on the bottom is a rendering of what the New York skyline will be like when the tower is completed in late 2013.

I guess I had more to say than I thought.  Never Forget.  Never Again.  God Bless the USA.
